1918-1919
Summary
Appearances and Goals << 1917-18 (Click for: Final League Tables back to Everton's Results) 1919-20 >> The
normal Football League and FA Cup competitions were suspended at the end
of the 1914/15 season due to World War I.
The Football League was replaced with regional leagues - a Lancashire Section and a Midlands Section. In 1917/18 and 1918/19 the winners of the 2 Sections met home and away to decide who would be League Champions. In 1918/19 Everton played in the Lancashire Section Principal Tournament up until March 29 1919. After that date they competed in a further Lancashire Section Subsidiary Tournament - which itself was sub-regionalised into 4 Groups, with Everton in Group D. The 4 Group winners qualified for the Lancashire Senior Cup. (One of the Subsidiary Tournament matches - at home to Liverpool - actually took place earlier than March 1919 - in January 1919 in fact). In 1918/19 London clubs formed their own 'London Combination'. Early in 1919, some North-Eastern, Midland and London clubs also participated in, respectively, the Northern Victory League, the Midland Victory League and the London Victory Cup. The FA Cup was not replaced. Match, appearance and goal statistics are not counted in any official records.
