1915-1916
Summary
Appearances and Goals << 1914-15 (Click for: Final League Tables back to Everton's Results) 1916-17 >> The normal Football League
and FA Cup competitions were suspended at the end of the 1914/15 season
due to World War I.
The Football League was replaced with regional leagues - a Lancashire Section and a Midlands Section. In 1915/16 Everton played in the Lancashire Section Principal Tournament, which ended on February 26 1916. After that date they competed in a further Lancashire Section Subsidiary Tournament - which itself was sub-regionalised into a Northern and Southern Division, with Everton in the latter. In 1915/16 London and Southern League clubs formed their own 'London Combination' and South-Western teams played in a 'South Western Combination'. The FA Cup was not replaced and no Cup competitions were contested. Match, appearance and goal statistics are not counted in any official records.
† Teams were allowed to use guest players in wartime matches. The actual clubs that Everton's guest players belonged to is indicated where appropriate. * Bert Rigsby guested for Everton during the war and afterwards signed for the club in May 1919. ** Joe Donnachie played for Everton from 1905/06 - 1908/09 and again in 1919/20. During the war he played for the club as a guest. Players in bold only played wartime games for Everton; they never played in a normal Football League or FA Cup match for the club. |
