Following this Bootle game, the FA suspended Everton from playing for a month due to them fielding ineligible
players in the FA Cup games with Bolton W played in October and November.
As a consequence, the Liverpool & District FA then disqualified Everton from the remainder of the Liverpool
Senior Cup and reinstated Bootle.

Everton didn't begin playing FA Cup matches until 1887/88 and were founder members
of the Football League, which began in 1888/89.
Prior to that the club participated in Friendly matches and local Cup competitions.
