Appearances and Goals

<< 1939-40                   (Click for:    Final League Tables and Cup Winners      back to Everton's Results)                    1941-42 >>

The normal Football League and FA Cup had been suspended when World War II broke out.
The Football League was replaced with regional leagues - and in 1940/41 Everton played in the Northern Division.
Clubs did not all play the same number of games and positions were decided on goal average
(goals scored divided by goals conceded).
In 1940/41 the FA Cup was replaced by a national Football League War Cup, which was regionalised (north and south) up to
and including the semi-finals.
There was also an additional London War Cup competition.
Match, appearance and goal statistics are not counted in any official records.
